Sip + Stitch: Embroidery Workshop
Join Julia Passafiume of Old Spool Sewing Studio in Brielle and Erica Mansfield of Gypstitch Embroidery for a special Sip & Stitch evening at the Asbury Hotel.
We will supply everything you need to learn the basics of the craft of embroidery. We've all drooled over the embroidered blouses at Anthropologie and wished we had an extra hundred dollars to make it happen, but why not learn how to embroider yourself, save the money and get creative all at the same time?
Each participant will get to choose their own artwork from a handful of exclusive designs (created by Erica and Julia for this event) as well as enjoy a complimentary glass of wine, rose, or prosecco to help with that all important 'creative flow.'
During the workshop, we will cover a few different beginner stitches as well as tips & tricks to achieve the best embroidery designs you can, starting with practice fabric and then moving onto our pre-printed artwork-which takes all the guesswork out for newbies!
Please choose a 6:30 PM or 8:30 PM session
Embroidery workshop (all supplies and instructions) + 1 drink (red or white wine, rose, or prosecco)
Cash bar available
Both Erica and Julia quit jobs in the NYC Fashion Industry to pursue their passion for creating: Erica is the sole maker behind Gypstitch Embroidery, where she manually cranks out one of a kind chainstitch artwork on a vintage 1930's embroidery machine. Erica's unique denim wedding jackets are in high demand by brides who want something a bit more edgy for their wedding day, and she does custom work while also creating patches for her online shop. Julia recently opened Old Spool Sewing Studio in Brielle where she teaches kids and adults to sew as well as hosting modern craft workshops, Sip & Stitch Events and countless other creative classes to get you inspired. Julia loves sewing her own clothing and hopes to inspire others to ditch shopping at fast fashion retailers and embrace the world of slow fashion.
